Signed to the legendary guitar heavy Shrapnel Records, the Las Vegas based APOCRYPHA, led by guitar wizard Tony Fredianelli, put out their debut album ‘The Forgotten Scroll’ in 1987. The album, produced by Marty Friedman, put the band on the map not only for the blinding fretwork of Fredianelli, but for the old-school Judas Priest type speed metal songs and the piercing vocals of Steven Plocica, who was often compared to Geoff Tate of Queensryche. Album number two ‘The Eyes of Time,’ once again produced by Friedman, was released in 1988 and added second guitarist Chip Chrovian to round out the sound. With a new rhythm section for their third album ‘Area 54’ in 1990, it was to be their last.
